Function
In the construction of special machines, it is often necessary to draw a partial torque off a main drive shaft. The bevel gearbox shown is intended for this purpose. The bevel gears with spiral teeth run quietly and are insensitive to shocks.
Requirements
In order to achieve optimum tooth mesh, torque transmission and quiet running, the bearings used in the bevel gear arrangement must:
- have high runout accuracy
- have sufficient rigidity
- be free from clearance
The bearing arrangement of the bevel gears must support radial and axial loads. A life of 15 000 to 20 000 h is also required.
